'Eye of Newt and Toe of' Fox

I have developed a serious love for silk blouses and what better way to scratch that itch than with one that costs only $58!  I love the way it feels against the skin, and I love the slouchiness of it (I ordered a size up because I wanted it nice and slouchy).  This particular blouse has strong shoulders, thanks to the shoulder pads, and as I pulled it from its package, aghast at the puffy addition, I still decided to try it on.  Usually, strong shouldered pieces make me look more like the linebacker (my shoulders are broad even though I'm slim) but I was quite surprised and delighted to find that the blouse didn't look bad at all. And how cute are those little foxes running about to and fro?  I've got my eye on three more that should round out my collection fabulously and all are under $100 (am still waiting for coupons before I purchase though).

**A very big THANK YOU to all my new followers - really makes this that much more fun**

'There's Daggers in' My Belt

This little silk onesie would not have been had it not been for the eye of the bf!  Although he is constantly trying to cure me of spendalotallthetimeitis, he sure does have a good eye for what would fit me.  For some strange reason, I thought onesies were not for me, let alone wearing one to work (with a leather blazer of course).

 I was wrong.

Paired with the belt, it is genious!  Oh, and I just had to put on the sequined tank just to let it play peek-a-boo with the racerback.  Thought it was a pretty touch.  Thanks BF!!!

If you are a student or teacher, you get 15% off regular priced items at JCrew!!   Check with your favorite stores for similar discounts!

'O, What [I] Dare Do!'

I'm always pushing my luck when it comes to fashion in the work place (namely a law firm).  But I figure, if I  throw on a blazer and some oxfords with these fabulous JCrew shiny linen bermudas, I'll kinda blend in with everyone else.  Not!  And who wants to blend in with everyone else anyways.

I've also started my accessory building after finding myself seriously lacking in that departement (and after the bf pointed it out) and hey, need I any more reason to go shopping?  Finally found a vintage-ish brooch and am still looking for one or two more that I can cluster around this one.

'There are More Things in Heaven and Earth'

I am a city girl at heart and will always be, but there's something about getting lost in nature that puts everything in perspective. There's no hustle and bustle just the rush of waterfalls; there's no reverberating buzzing of telephones or texts just the resonating chirping and buzzing of birds and bees; there's no deadlines looming or incessant chewing out by bosses or clients just looming, all-encroaching trees. So before winter comes and lays its bleak hand over everything green, go out and enjoy the remnants of all things green.

'What a Piece of Work is' This Skirt

I saw this skirt in Lucky Magazine and instantly fell in love with it...had to have it no matter the cost! And as such, I'll never tell how much I paid for it. However, I will say that after an extensive search for it in this color (rust), I finally found it at a cool boutique called Kaight. It was the last one in my size (an 8...ha...can you believe it? I don't know who the fit model was but geesh).

And now for a little secret which enabled me to get the skirt at a 10% discount: As I tried on sizes 2, 4, 6 (finally landing on the 8), admired and twirled myself about, I put my hands in the pockets and (cue heavenly music), I found a massive tear. Whoohoo!!!! Instant discount ladies. If you ever come across a defected garment that you can easily fix, do ask for a discount.

(But a word of caution, find out the store's policy on these types of discounts. Sometimes you can't return the item after they give you the defect discount).

I LOVE THIS SKIRT!!!

And the best part, even though it's wool and has a nice weight to it, I can wear it all year round!

(Sorry for the slightly blurry pictures. Am saving up for my real camera. BTW, the tank top is dotted with tiny hearts)

''Tis Best to Weigh the [Garment] More Mighty Than it Seems'

One must give credit where credit is due, and I must say it was the BF who inspired me to try different shapes in clothes and to get out of my comfort zone. I was the girl who would turn up her nose to the draped, misshapened thing on the hanger while shopping until the BF simply said, 'try it on'. And ladies, I've never looked back. I've had so much fun in the last year trying on different shapes and colors!

These slightly modified harems are always a challenge for me to wear.  I'm still slightly intimidated when it comes to out-there-fashion. But I'm quickly getting over my shyness as more and more fabulous, outrageous pieces come strutting down runways.

That being said, I am still wary of some garments, for though they are fierce on the runway, they don't always translate on the streets.  So I say, ladies, always try on a garment.  It may look 100% different/better on you than it does on the hanger.

'Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow'

I am not a lover of the cold AT ALL! Yet once again, I find myself bidding adieu to Summer. Oh I'll miss these lazy, hazy days, the steamy, sticky heat, the burst of cool air in a downtown boutique, the glimmer of bronzed bare skin, the beach, the barbeques and picnics, my Blackberry Bliss at Jamba. I'll miss the quick thunder showers that leave the air thick and fragrant. I'll miss the green grass, lush trees, yes, even the bugs! But above all, I'll miss my summer dresses!
