'Fear No More The Heat O' The Sun'

...for it is FINALLY upon us!  It has been absolutely hellish hot in NYC and I am not complaining AT ALL!

These Timberland boots were an absolute steel from a chance encounter with Marshalls. Can you believe they were only $15?  I had also picked up these babies at the same time!

I'm really craving accessories right now, and I've always had a soft spot for body chains but really never wanted to spend the $100 - $200 some of them cost.  Instead, I went to a bead store, bought some chains and made one myself.  It can actually be worn a couple of different ways!  I'm actually very happy with the way it turned out!

Have you ladies ever been inspired to make your own jewelry?

The Stuff in My Bag Tag

So there's this fun game of tag going around where, if you're tagged, you have to show the contents of your bag.  I was tagged by Chic Therapy, so here's what I carry around on a regular basis. (Oh and depending on if I need to sneak something in the house, I'll switch out my bag for a bigger one wherein it is easier to conceal purchases...hehehe)

Bag -  Alexander Wang Diego...a Christmas gift to me from me and on which I spilled hot chocolate the very first time I took it for a spin! I was so absolutely pissed, that had I not been late for work, I would have went back to McDonald's and screamed at the girl who filled the hot chocolate to the absolute brim, causing it to seep through the top and trickle onto my bag.  There's a light spot in the front of it now...grrrr!

Contents:
ipod - I think the BF stole my headphones...
Phone - Droid...need an update but don't know if I want the iphone or if I should just stick to the Droid
Note Pad - where I doodle all my blog ideas and where I record the orig. price of an item vs. what I paid for it
Water - especially now that it's finally getting hot
Flats - Jeffrey Campbell ballets that are super comfy, super flexible...needed for when the heels are killing
Shoe Bag - cause I won't put nasty shoe soles in my bag and shoe bags are washable
B&N nook - I have a love hate relationship with that thing
Magazine - Lucky, the only one I have allowed myself to subscribe to though they never put a girl like me on the cover...grrrr
Hand Lotion - needed especially in the winter
Wallet - Fendi...filled to the brim with receipts (think George from Seinfeld episode) and cost more money than it is ever filled with
Keys: had this Coach key chain for about 14 years now and it's still holding strong...
Pack-o-Gum - goes without saying
Essie Nail Colors (Lollipop and Chinchilly) - in case I go for a manicure and hate all the colors
Mac Red Lipstick - in case the BF decides to surprise me at work or I go out after
Nikon D300 (not pictured cause I'm taking the picture) - for impromptu photo shoots and to capture street style photos

So tag to the following ladies; you're it!

'I am Dying, [Ladies], Dying'

Took a walk with the BF and stopped at an empty playground.  Empty in May you say? Yup, because of this @#$%@@#$ weather!  It's killing all my creativity!!!!

However, I did get my hands on my beloved JC Suebees that I had lamented over here and here! And while I am in absolute love with them, they are proving to be a bit treacherous because my right foot keeps slipping out at the side.  Have already misstepped like 10 times.  Tres embarrassing!  Still I love them and they are comfy so I'll def get them in the black patent if they ever become available again.

What I'm Wearing:

Pixie Pant - JCrew
Blouse: Laundry
Necklace: All Saints

'O, How This Spring of Love Resembleth'

I absolutely adore Spring (when it behaves, that is).  Even though it had just finished raining, the trees and greenery were all so lush and green.  Ah, such a tease for what I hope is to come:  warmth, bare arms and shoulders and legs and feet, picnics among flowers and full swaying trees giving much needed shade with their leafy shadows! Although, right about now, I'm wishing for a 'bonfire' summer (as the BF and Murphy would say)! Screw shade!!

First wore this dress on my blog here (always fun looking at start-up posts and seeing how far I've come!)

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Sheer Sweater: Aqua - Bloomingdales
Rings: Mango, Forever21
Hat: Free People
Earrings: Ciccada - Etsy
Necklace: Maslo Design - Need Supply

A BIG thank you to Cri of Il Piccolo Mondo de Cri for awarding me the Creative Blogger Award! Even though her blog is entirely in Portuguese, her incredible knack for putting outfits together translates!! Go check her out if you have not already!

I'd also like to thank you ladies for all your responses on the Lita question.  I think I'm just going to go for it.  What the hell, right?  If/when I get sick of them, I'll either hide them under a pair of REALLY long pants that I can't be bothered to hem or stick them on my shelf as part of shoe history!  I'm going to order this gray pair as soon as I can figure out how to get them at a discount! Oh, and I WILL get them at a discount by hook or by crook!

Don't forget to eyeball my lookbook photo strip (on the right side) for sneak peeks of my upcoming posts!

'Oft Expectation Fails...'

I refuse to comment anymore on this gawd awful weather NYC/NJ has been having. I expected by now for some sun and continuous 72 degree days.   Just look at the overcast sky...'nough said!

I peeled myself off the couch and decided to make the best of it and this outfit is what I came up with.  Love the punchy orange color of the top and that I got it for only 10 bucks at H&M!  I paired it with my striped maxi, one of my favorite pairs of All Saints boots and with Mac So Chaud lipstick.

Love the reeds in this shot although I swear there was something in there!

What I'm Wearing:
Sweater:  H&M
Striped Skirt:  Forever21
Boots: All Saints Suede Stud Military
Necklace: Jewel Mint
Rings: Mango, Free People shark tooth, street vendor
Feather Earrings: Urban Outfitters

And now, I really require your opinion:  To Lita or not to Lita?  That is the question!

What do you ladies think about these shoes?  Should I jump on the bandwagon?  I was for a while hating these things since EVERYONE and their mom seemed to have a pair.
So, as I was browsing in a Free People store on a lunch hour, there they were perched on a shelf. I figured, what the hells, let me just try them on and see what the hub-bub is all about.
Well, they didn't look clownish on my feet at all (rather a bit adorable) AND THEY ARE COMFY AS HELL (however comfy that is).  Seriously! I can walk in them without tipping over!
These olive babies caught my eye on Sole Struck and of course they are sold out in my size and may come back in 3 months.  I think I may just do it.

Should I or shouldn't I?

And a big 'thank you' to Style & Poise for giving me the Adorable Blog Award!  Check out her excellent use of color and pattens! She never has a grey day!!

Mango Event 5/12/2011

Went to my first ever bloggerish event! It was held at the Mango store in Soho, NYC and I had an absolute amazing time!  We had the challenge of putting together outfits for a chance to win some fab prizes.  Here's the outfit I came up with!

Although I didn't win, I had a blast putting together my outfit with my trusty friend and photographer of the day.  Thanks so much Murphy for holding my heavy butt bag, my clothes, all the while maneuvering my cam to take some pics ;)  Also met Candy of Taylor and Demolish who was one of the lucky winners (check out her absolutetly super cool DIY projects on her blog), was asked repeatedly if I worked at the store (since I was strutting around in their wares but really, I had the tags still on each piece of garment) and was also asked for some style advice by some shoppers!

Natalie from Natalie off Duty was there and was the sole judge (that must be a hard thing to do with all the anxious stares when it was time to pick the winners), and I got to chat with her for a bit and take a photo (notice my trying to stretch myself to her absolutely magnificent height...god, I wish I was tall)!

And now for some pretty things that I'll definetly be going back for!

I also surprised myself with coming away with only this fabulous ring (the ENTIRE store was 20% off), but since I had a sort of shopping frenzy this week, I thought I'd better cool it and was very proud of myself for sticking to my guns. I love this ring and was quite satisfied with it, that is until I got home and noticed that there was a defect.

Can you ladies see what's wrong with it?

Anyhoo, Mango had the ring online still so I called the 800 number, told the rep my problem and she gave me free shipping AND 20% off AND apologized for my inconvenience! Got the ring the very next day in the mail!  Mango, with that great customer service, you have made a customer for life! Excellent!
